Object DescriptionPen and ink drawing of the Hamburger Barracks in the Terezin Ghetto. A corner of the barracks seen through an arch. In the courtyard of the barracks is a water pump and the figure of a person walking towards an arched doorway. Building is three stories with arched windows. In the foreground is shield of Terezin: a section of stone wall with towers at either end, a crowned lion holding a sword and shield, facing left. The barracks are black ink with sepia and brown added. Shield has a blue sky with sepia and orange detail. Artist's signature and title in lower right corner: "Hamburger, Terezin 1943, Finke." Inscription translates: Good luck and good health for the second Christmas in Terezin. Best wishes to mother. Vilous 24.12.43.Collections
