Object number2000.P.320
Object DescriptionClose up of people standing under the chuppah, some of which is visible at top of photo. See photos 2000.P.321 and 2000.P.322. At far left a bearded man in a fedora who looks like the shochet in photo 2000.A.315. He may be performing the ceremony. In front center, a woman in a dark turban like hat, and at far right the bride wearing a white turban with a lacy veil covering her face. Her white dress, with rolled collar, is visible under her coat. Other people are standing behind them. The men are wearing hats. All are wearing overcoats. No information about who the people are. The serious expressions on all faces are a reflection of the bittersweet circumstances of the wedding, where the participants were painfully aware of their absent families but were hopeful for the future. From album given to Henry Cohen upon his departure from Foehrenwald, July 1946 (see 2000.A.409).
