In order to fashion a practical implement, it was necessary to clean out the pulpy contents of the gourd and get rid of the odour. It was then filled with water, buried in the earth, dug up, emptied and cleaned. A great deal of work was invested in this process and recently, the Star of David, the menorah and Hebrew words have began to be added to the designs.”
