Object DescriptionHandwritten program of a concert given at the Ore Chadosh DP camp near Fuerth, Germany, probably 1945. It includes singing of Hatikvah and traditional Hanukkah hymns, a play with Zionist theme, and concludes with singing of Teh'zakna, a poem by Chaim Nachman Bialik with music by Engel, used as a Zionist hymn. Hand printed in block letters on page torn from a stenography notebook, two sided, black ink.

NotesSee also xerox of NY Post newspaper report about this Hanukkah program, which mentions name of donor as well as Paul Freedman, Borenstein.4. Irving Borenstein was active in organizing Jewish life in the newly established Ore Chadosh DP camp while himself serving with the US army: through Zionist youth activities, providing ritual objects and facilitating religious observance, and served as liaison with Jewish Brigade personnel in Italy who were moving survivors towards port cities from where they left for Palestine.
