NotesHeinz (later Henry) Bauer, the donor, was born on September 19, 1917 in Mannheim, Germany. He left Germany in 1939 and arrived in London, travelling on to the US, where he arrived in February 1940. He served in the US armed forces from November 1942 to November 1945.
