NotesBischofswerder was donor’s late husband’s great great grandfather. The cup was brought to the United States by the cantor’s daughter Augusta and her husband Otto Rothgesser about 1898. Den Cantor Bischofswerderschen Eheleuten zur goldenen Hochzeit / Die Synagogen Gemeinde Wiss.a.i. P. d. 7 Jan 1895. For golden wedding anniversary of Cantor Bischofswerder couple. The synagogue [i.e. religious] community January 7, 1895. We’re not sure about the abbreviation Wiss.a.i.P.; if we can figure it out we will let you know.
